MS-DOS Games

The following are playable online DOS games

  • DOS Games use the exact same controls as your entire keyboard does! However if a control scheme is tricky, it will be listed on this page.
  • If DOS games use mouse controls, click on the screen and your mouse disappears, meaning you gain control of the mouse in the emulation.
  • Archive.org's DOS emulation has the better play-ability with good speed and good fullscreen, Classic Reload's fullscreen doesn't work at all and a resolution higher than 640x360 on the game squashes the screen, Classicgames.me works good, but the fullscreen is sometimes squashed too.
  • There are games that change your DOSBOX Data from MS-DOS to Tandy 1000, like Ernie's Magic Shapes.
If the booting screen looks like this when you play, you have MS-DOS Data. PC Speaker and Soundblaster noises, as well as VGA EGA and CGA should all be working, but Tandy graphics and sound won't work at all!
If the booting screen looks like this when you play, your have Tandy 1000 data, the downside is that VGA and EGA won't work meaning that games requiring VGA/EGA cannot be played in this data, as well as Windows 3.11 emulation not working at all. But on the upside, both PC Speaker and SoundBlaster still work, and you can still play CGA. But for the bonus, you get access to Tandy graphics and Tandy sound!

  • Notable Games
Pac-Man (1983)
If your DOSBOX data is Tandy 1000, the music is too fast and the gameplay is even faster.
Lemmings DEMO (1991)
Sound is random, either it will have the Sound Blaster and music, or it will have no music and just pc speaker sounds.
Lemmings (1991)
At first glance its only VGA and EGA, but you actually can play this in CGA, just exit to DOS and type "cgalemmi" to play in CGA.
If your data is Tandy 1000 then you actually can't play it in VGA/EGA, you have to exit to DOS, and type "cgalemmi" or "tgalemmi" in which you can play in CGA or Tandy, to play the game in Tandy sound, type sbtype=none before starting the game.
Lemmings 2 DEMO (1993)
There is an option for sound test, No Sound Roland and Tandy won't play any sounds, and PC Speaker is just, the beeper. So you'll want the Soundblaster option unless you wanna go silent-mode.
Lemmings 2 (1993)
Practice mode and Intro will not work
Lemmings 3 (1994)
There is no sound

Step it up developers, its 1991 and it only uses PC Speaker noises, and also the game is 10 minutes with no replay value.

Mickey's Memory Challenge (1990)
For your first time starting, its set to VGA Soundblaster and Keyboard controls, a quit screen has a System Setup option which you can change it to things like EGA PC Speaker and Mouse controls.
DO NOT change it to Tandy graphics with MS-DOS data, this will full on break the game and can prove rather difficult for trying to go back.
At first glance its impossible to play on Tandy 1000 data, however the game does start but unable to display due to the VGA graphics error, so after the music ends press right 3 times then press enter, then press down 3 times then press enter, if successful, you'll arrive at the quit screen, and now change the graphics setting to Tandy and it will work, you can even set the sound to the 8-bit Tandy music.
Mickey's Jigsaw Puzzles (1991)
You start off with a setup screen, that you can go back to when quitting. This allows you to customize the graphics with a choice of VGA EGA CGA and Tandy, and sounds to None PC Speaker or Soundblaster.
Using Soundblaster sound makes Mickey's digitized voice be used which is a bonus.
If your DOSBOX data is Tandy 1000, you can't play VGA or EGA, but you can set your graphics to CGA or Tandy.
Also with the Tandy 1000 data you can set the sound to Tandy but instead of 8-bit music its awful voice samples.
